We knew this was our last chance to get the baby to turn. We did ALL the “baby turning” techniques in ONE NIGHT. I can’t tell you how amazing my husband is!!! I had lost all hope and was just going through the motions and that’s just when he stepped up and worked harder for me than ever before. His support and love were amazing as he played relaxing music for me, burned the herbs in the moxa treatment, rubbed my stomach to try to get her to turn, etc etc. He is my knight in shining armor and I am so blessed to have such a man. That night I could not sleep – no contractions whatsoever. I moved out to the couch and read the Bible and prayed and cried and cried but I just couldn’t see this working out the way I had originally planned. We had tried everything and it just seemed that a c-section is the answer the Lord was giving us. I was fully trusting in Him and although I really did not want this, I was resigned to it knowing that He knows best.
Then, just like in the movies, at the very last minute, another idea surfaced. My wonderful husband remembered a doctor in South Florida that we had heard was willing to deliver breech babies naturally. He asked me to make the call – I almost didn’t, but because of all the work he had already done for me the night before and because of his care and support, I couldn’t say no. I thought for sure the doctor would be out of town, not accepting new patients, not accepting my insurance or any number of other reasons he would not see me.
Well, I made that call and they told me to get to their office IMMEDIATELY!!! I couldn’t believe this was actually happening! We cleaned up the house, got the kids situated with some wonderful friends who were ready and waiting to take the best care of them and got on the road for a 3.5 hour drive to the doctor. We hit rain and traffic and the doctor called and told us just to meet him at the hospital. We finally met Dr. Tsinker at the hospital at 5pm and by 7pm I was being induced! Dr. Tsinker was very honest and upfront with us – he would give me as much time as I needed and as was safe. He would have much rather that we had been there two weeks earlier – bigger babies are harder to deliver breech because, as the baby is coming out, the doctor has to move and rotate the baby a number of different ways to make sure everything comes out right. He preferred a 6 to 7 pound baby. He ordered an ultrasound to check the size of this baby – 9 pounds and 11 ounces was the reading!! “I hope that reading is wrong” he said.

Grandma – That’s a really good idea to send him a card on her bday! I had planned to send one to him right after we got home, but that somehow never happened. I might have to commission that really great card-maker I know to do one for me! Do you think if I put in my order now I’d get it by July?
Patti J – Thank you so much for taking the time to read and for the kind comments! It is so neat to look back on big events with a smile! Hugging the hubby right now!
Wow how wonderful and unfailing Our Saviour is!! There is nothing impossible for him!! You have a wonderful family!!
What a great story! It’s funny how it seems that when we decide to ‘give up hope’, that’s when the Lord starts putting all the pieces together! I think situations like that are always something you can look back on and say, “The Lord really was with me and He can do it again…”
I did a Google search for “can you deliver a breech baby naturally?” and yours was the first hit! I am so glad I found this! I am 23 weeks along with a breech baby (that I anticipate turning, but still…) and it was such a blessing to read about God’s faithfulness in your circumstances! You did a beautiful job praising your husband and your Lord. Thank you for sharing. And congratulations on being Google’s first hit. That means you’re reaching more people than you know!
I delivered my frank breech baby this past November – a few more complications than you experienced, but ultimately a healthy baby, healthy mama, and NO c-section!
