This year, for Mother's Day, I received several wonderful gifts. My husband had the kids decorate cards for me – I love the hand-made ones the best from my kids! He bought me a rose and some Starbuck's Chai Truffles – oh my! yummy! And to top it all off, my oldest son won a free makeover for me! He wrote a paragraph about me and why he thought I should win the Mommy Makeover the salon was giving away. He really did a great job and just reading what he wrote was such a special gift as it was. The day they were to award the makeover, he was anxiously awaiting a phone call all day. In the afternoon, we were near the salon and he went in to see if they had picked a winner yet. When they said "no", he asked how many submissions they received – she said "hundreds". That really made him nervous!! We were on our way to a friend's house for dinner and I received a call on my cell phone asking for my oldest son! His eyes got so big when I handed him the phone. All I could hear of the conversation was "win" and I thought she said "you didn't win" and some other consoling words. Like I said, reading the words he wrote about me was enough for me – I was more than okay with not winning. He closed the phone and said (very calmly and quietly), "Well, … you won." I turned back around and he had huge smile on his face and was just elated the rest of the evening! WE WON!! I was able to get a makeover!! This makeover includes a manicure and a pedicure, a facial, and a new hair-do. They have me scheduled for four and a half hours!! Can you believe that?! I have never spent that much time in a salon! I am very excited though – it should be a really fun time. I better read The "Me Time" Myth again before I go! The photo of me at the top of this article is the one my son took to submit with his entry for the makeover. I'm sure they thought, "WOW! We can sure do a lot with THIS one!!" I may be on schedule, but I have not included a time slot for makeup and hairdo, as you can see! Stay tuned for the AFTER photos! I'm also hoping to take the camera with me and ask someone there to take some DURING photos!
