Someone could (if successful) use such tactics to take over your website. I have had sites that were compromised and "hidden" pages were created to host or redirect to some very bad sites. Evil people have an interest in getting legitimate sites to link to theirs, even without the owners knowledge. A string like the above could be used to see which special characters are stripped out or changed and help the attacker discover vulnerabilities.
