Thursday Threesome (on Wednesday) – I’ll Be There

June 17, 2009

in Thursday Threesome

I'll Be ThereI had already decided to start participating in Thirsty Thursday with Joy at FiveJs when I saw this great meme on Leslie’s blog called OliveShoot.  So, instead of trying to decide which one to do, I’ll do both, just not exactly on the right day!

(What is a meme, you might ask?  I did, too, and here is the answer – meme (a cultural unit (an idea or value or pattern of behavior) that is passed from one person to another by non-genetic means (as by imitation)) “memes are the cultural counterpart of genes”)

Thursday Threesome is a three-word phrase, divided into thirds, and then expounded upon.

So, without further ado, here is my first “threesome” entry!

I'll Be There

(I know what you’re thinking … it’s technically four words.  My husband already pointed it out – AFTER I created the jpeg!  And, I was so proud of myself for thinking of such a profound statement for my first entry!  So, I’m just gonna go with it and remember for next time.)

I’ll -

a contraction of a pronoun “I” and a verb “will”.

The Webster’s 1828 says:

“1.That faculty of the mind by which we determine either to do or forbear an action; the faculty which is exercised in deciding, among two o more objects, which we shall embrace or pursue.  … we reason with respect to the value or importance of things; we then judge which is to be preferred and we will to take the most valuable.  Will is often quite a different thing from desire.

2. Choice; determination.”

You WILL do that which is most important to you.

Be -

“To be, or not to be: that is the question” from Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

The Webster’s 1828 says:

“1. To be fixed; to exist; to have a real state or existence, for a longer or shorter time.

2. To be made to be; to become.”

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 2:5

There -

Yep, we’re going to Webster’s again:

“1. In that place.

2. It is sometimes opposed to here; there denoting the place most distant.”

It is very amazing to me how three simple little words can become so profound when you really sit and think about them instead of rambling on.  (Maybe you don’t ramble, but I do – just ask my poor husband.)

How many times have I said to a friend or loved one, “I’ll be there”?  How many times have I raised my hand when a call for volunteers was made, thereby saying, “I’ll be there”?  Sometimes it takes some effort to get to a place that is not here but there!  I have four children – getting there takes four times longer than it ever did before!  But, as moms, as friends, as relatives, we get there because we said we would.

Hebrews 13:5b “…for he hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.”  Jesus said, “I’ll be there”!

During this season of my life, I am learning about “leaving”.  Apprehensively leaving those closest and dearest in order to follow the path that is set before me.  Happily watching dear friends leaving to serve the Lord in a foreign country.  Sadly hearing of people leaving fellowship behind for reasons that just don’t seem to measure up.  It has been a very rough and tear-filled time and I’m not quite sure what the Lord is teaching me, but I sure do want to learn.  I have been very naive up to this point, so maybe the Lord is teaching me just to guard my heart a little more, as I tend to wear it as a glittering accessory!  :)

I love word studies, so this has probably been more fun for me than you, but I do hope you have enjoyed it!
