(I wish I looked that light on my feet when I vacuumed! Maybe I need to get a cute white and green one like that!)
Tackle It Tuesday is another fun meme that inspires bloggers to get those jobs DONE! You can find everyone else’s ideas over at 5MinutesForMom every week.
This week, I tackled the clothing in my closet.
I have been so tired of squished clothes, wrinkled skirts, and that elusive blouse for long enough and I knew it was time for an overhaul. Another one of those tasks that just keeps rearing its ugly head.
But, I wanted to approach it a little differently this time. I really don’t have the time (or the energy most days) to stand in my room and look at each piece of clothing and try to decide if I want to keep it or not, try to remember when the last time I wore it was, try to remember if it actually fits me without trying it on!
So, I hijacked part of the closet in my girls’ room to store my clothes for a while. I moved every stitch of clothing that was in my closet to that closet. When I actually wear something, it goes back into my closet. At the end of a month or two, I’ll take a look in the girls’ closet to see what is left. It either goes to a friend in need or Goodwill.
This is the "holding tank" for my clothes.
And, here is what my closet looks like right now! Feel like I can breathe!
Here are the guidelines before something goes back in the closet:
- I must have worn it
- I must like wearing it
- It must actually fit nicely (This is NOT Make-Do Monday!!)
I can’t wait to see what my closet looks like! I have lots of pieces from when we lived in Wisconsin – lots of warm, dark colored winter stuff. Now that we live in sunny cheerful Florida, so many of my things just seem depressing. I’ll keep a few long sleeved shirts for the two days in January that it gets a little cool and try to update the rest with something a little brighter!

Great tackle!
What a fabulous idea. I went through my closet a bit the other week, however there were some things I just wasn’t sure about and didn’t have the time/drive to try everything on at that point so I just put them back in.
What an interesting idea for organizing and sorting your clothes from your closet! I look forward to seeing what makes it into your closet.
Love it! I did this tackle last week with my 13 year old son’s closet….fortunately, he didn’t have that many clothes.
Great rules for deciding what stays…they are the same ones I use!
What a great idea to keep track of clothes you don’t wear anymore! Thanks for sharing such a neat tip!

How smart! I should do this! I have so many clothes but I either don’t like them or they don’t fit! Check out my Tackle It Tuesday here.
