Works For Me Wednesday is hosted by WeAreTHATFamily! After reading this article, go on over there and check out all the other great blog posts to see what works for other blogging guys and gals!
I know, I know! How can I possibly be talking about slowing down already? It’s only September!! School hasn’t even gotten into full knock-down-drag-out swing for many people!
But, it worked for me today and I wonder if some other mommies out there need the reminder to slow down! I really work hard each and every day to pull myself out of bed and stay ahead of (or at least not too far behind) the schedule. Homeschooling, chores, cooking, cleaning, character training, modeling good behavior – there is a lot to do in the life of a stay-at-home mom. Sometimes, I get so busy working for my kids, that I forget to stop and play with my kids!
This evening, the “I just don’t wanna!” cloud was hanging over my head. Usually, I try to model the attitude that I would want my kids to have during those times. I don’t want to but I have to so I keep on going.
But, today, I decided to take the opportunity to play with my children. We went outside and enjoyed the cooler weather and played and laughed and had a good time! I could feel the pressure melting as we just walked through the grass and pretended to be hunters in the jungle. (We live in Florida – there isn’t too much imagination needed when we pretend we’re in the jungle. We ARE in the jungle!! lol) There is something very sweet about just being together without it being a specific “time” for this subject or that chore.
Maybe you are overwhelmed with your schedule.
Maybe you are busy every day of the week.
Maybe you feel great and are ready to keep going.
No matter what your situation, take some time to play with the kids that you work so hard to raise right! I know I need the reminder on a regular basis. If you already have lots of good free-play time with your kids – remind someone else! They’ll thank you for it!

Thanks for the reminder. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle of life that we forget what’s really important.
Thanks – I know I need this reminder – they grow up so stinking fast, and I don’t want to have missed it because I was too busy being busy!
