This is the dress I wore to my beautiful, wonderful, only little sister’s wedding! Her wedding was gorgeous with this lavender and green apple – she did a great job.
Needless to say, the dress is really special to me and I would like to wear it more often. It’s just too much purple all at once to wear on a regular Sunday. And, I was 8 months pregnant with my now-5 year old when I was fitted for the dress and it ended up being probably about a full size too big.
I think I would like to repurpose or refashion it into something that I can wear, but I also have three daughters – if I can’t think of anything for me, maybe something for them would be cute, too.
If the idea is clothing, bottoms must be skirts since it’s all I wear and tops have to be completely modest (short sleeves are okay but sleeveless is not).
So, what ideas strike you? I’m excited to hear what all you other crafty people can come up with – I obviously haven’t been able to figure anything out in five whole years!!

How about making a beautiful pillow out of the blouse. That way you can have it around as a keepsake from your sister’s wedding and still can wear the skirt with alterations with a doifferent top.

That dress has really a sentimental value! It has been kept for years. I’m not a fashion buff but i just would like to refer you to some magazines, if you would like to.

I am not a Fashionista, but I would love to give you suggestions for making your dress repurpose. First of I would like to teel you the color of the dress is just wonderful I think! I liked the color very much, but as you have said that your dress is lot of purple, even I think the same. According to me if you can use white lace design at the bottom of your dress I think it would make your dress to look little shorter. Also you can experiment with your sleeves by making them short and also the white lace design at the bottom of your sleeves can also be a good option. These tips would make your dress look simple yet elegant for the regular Sunday.

This idea of your has helped me think about doing something similar. I have a suit that is very over sized from the days I weighed almost 500 pounds. I have followed a healthy diet and now my suit doesn’t fit me. The material used to make the suit is of premier quality and I do not want it wasted. Thanks for the idea.

Did you really ear that when you were pregnant. Must say that it looks rather small, five months the bump is already visible, I know since my girlfriend is already showing a bump at five months. Anyways, the advise I would give is make your children pants with it, beautiful shorts can come out of this piece.

I really liked this purple dress and would like to suggest that you get to work on it and alter it to make it fit you. I don’t know much about your kids. But my kids were not very pleased when my wife made clothes for them out of her wedding dress. Growing teenagers today want new clothes and are not happy when we give them our old stuff no matter how nostalgic we may be about it.

As a mom new to the whole making thing. I liked your idea of doing something great for the kids. I am hoping that they will appreciate my hand knitted sweaters. I think many kids today have become so engraved in the brand world that they care very little about our feelings and about the attachment we have. But I think moms like us, can make them have a change of heart and value gesture more than product.

I am not much of a perfectionist but your dress sure looks amazing. Its not very exposing and yet its got that classy look to it. I ma sure you don’t need to refashion this dress. It would look amazing just the way it is. You can either cut the skirt into some fashionable design in case its still being longer for any of your daughters.

I love the color of this dress. If it were mine I would transfrom it into a sleeveless dress with a flowered purple and green sash and bow right under the bosom. Green and purple always look beautiful together. I hope this sparked some ideas for you.
Blessings,
